Welcome to my reef page.  Finally, some updates!

Day 1. Cloudy, cloudy. I hope it doesn't crash

Day 3, looking very nice so far!

February 27, 2010: Lots of corals, including pulsing silver tipped xenias, green star polyps, eagle eye zoanthids, supergreen zoanthids, button polyps, mushrooms, pink montipora and neon green acropora; a yellow watchman goby and candy pistol shrimp, a McCosker’s Flasher Wrasse, and two Ocellaris Clowns as well as blue-legged hermit crabs and turbo and nerite snails.  I have added 2 24 inch T5’s to my 70 W metal halide after getting a terrible PAR reading.  Soon I will be upgrading to a higher wattage metal halide fixture and sundry other lighting additions yet to be determined.

    No cycling? Sinner!

How many gallons, lbs of LR, & what kind if light do you have?

  2. January 3, 2010 at 8:30 pm

A guy on http://www.worcreef.org was selling his 29g setup, which was what I was already planning on setting up. I wouldn’t have had livestock in it yet, otherwise. He had some hardware I really wanted, and it was easier on him for me to take it all, so I adjusted my strategy and rolled with the punches. The lemon damsel’s color is bright and it’s eating – so far so good. Praying for minimal die off from transport and cycling.

Here’s the breakdown I posted on the forum member tank profiles:

    Hardware:
    29g drilled (DIY overflow)
10g sump with LR and “post-consumer” DIY skimmer
Unknown return pump (feeds skimmer and display tank)
Koralia 2 (600 GPH) in display tank
40-50 lbs of Live Rock overall
    75W Metal Halide

    Livestock:
    1 Lemon Damsel
    2 snails

    Future plans:
    Lunar LED lights
    UV Sterilizer
    Unspecified corals, anemones
    2 – ocellaris clowns
    1 – Royal Gramma
    1 – Goby (Watchman maybe?)
    2-3 – Peppermint shrimp

Hey I didn’t know you were on WORC forum! I am too. What is your handle there? I’m ~reefchik~. Small world.

I like your tank, btw. I have lots of photos of mine at WORC

Steph, I go by Ghurlag on WORC, and pretty much anywhere else. I’ll be checking out your tank pics for sure!

Hey B, What critters are you planning to add once you are ready?

  6. January 9, 2010 at 9:08 am

Hey, Steve – I’ll be adding a couple clowns, a watchman goby, and some shrimp and other cleaners. My main focus is going to be on corals (starting out with softies for the foreseeable future).
